Outreach Opportunities

Our major churchwide upcoming outreach opportunities are…

REAL LIFE–Each Wednesday of the schoolyear (except December)–click here to see a pdf listing of spring electives or e-mail David Samford for questions or more information.

Our King’s Kitchen ministry serves a meal at 5:15-6:15 in the Chapel (Fellowship Hall), followed by elective classes ranging from Bible Studies to Life Skills to Hobbies.  REAL Life is designed to appeal to your friends who are not currently connected with a church family.

Downtown Ministry–every 1st, 2nd and 4th Sunday

Volunteers prepare a hot meal on Sunday morning, which is then taken by volunteers to Phoenix Park in downtown Lexington just after noon.  Those who wish to serve downtown can pray, serve food, and just get to know members of our homeless community who need the love of Christ.

Easter Saturday Breakfast and Egg Hunt–Saturday, April 7

On the day before Easter, we host a pancake breakfast for the children and families of our community, which includes a creative telling of the Easter story and an egg hunt (outdoor, weather permitting).  We need volunteers to prepare eggs, prepare and serve breakfast, organize the event, and share a warm welcome with our many guests.

White Mountain, Arizona Apache Mission Trip–June 9-16

This weeklong trip will include help to a church located in one of the very poorest communities of our nation.  Dunamis Ministries includes a church, a prison ministry, and assistance to the Apache families on the White Mountain Reservation.  This will be Hill-n-Dale’s fifth White Mountain trip, and it’s a great entry point for those who are just entering Hill-n-Dale.  Space is limited; for more details, please contact Gary Blake at gary_e_blake@yahoo.com

Vacation Bible School–Dates TBA, July 2012

Starting with a Sunday afternoon kick-off and taking place in the evening from Monday through Friday, our Vacation Bible School is an opportunity for adults and youth alike to reach out to the children of our community and church.  A variety of volunteer positions and needs exist.  Contact Children’s Minister Katy Lines at katylines@hillndale.com for more information or to volunteer.

Serve at the Cave–Date TBA, October 2012

Each year, we host a special Tuesday kick-off event at the Russell Cave Church of Christ on the north end of town.  This event includes food and games for the children and families of the Russell Cave community, and helps promote the kick-off of a Tuesday evening study-tutoring-meal program that the church offers to the community each week.

Mission Trip to Crimea, Ukraine–Dates TBA, October 2012

A trip to the Crimean region of Ukraine, to work with and minister to children in orphanages and children’s/foster homes, is tentatively planned for October.  For more information or to indicate initial interest, please contact senior minister Phil Roberts at philroberts@hillndale.com

Harvest Party–Saturday, October 27

On the last Saturday of October at the Hill-n-Dale Neighborhood Park (located a few blocks from the church on 2351 Maplewood) the church hosts an afternoon party involving games, candy and a pumpkin-themed devotion.  This is a great outreach to the children and families of the community, and volunteers are needed for help with games and candy.  Contact children’s minister Katy Lines at katylines@hillndale.com to volunteer or for more information.

Bethlehem–December 14 & 15

This will be third annual Hill-n-Dale presentation of Bethlehem, an indoor-outdoor interactive presentation of the Christmas story involving music, drama and even live animals.  Around 100 volunteers with a huge variety of different roles are needed.  For more information or to volunteer, please contact Lisa Roberts at roberts99@insightbb.com
